6-6-6 day today! What the devil's got into people?

Today on my afternoon lunch break I'm walking back to work with a young, female coworker. We're walking west along Dundas just west of Yonge Street by the subway exit on the north side of the street. The sidewalk is pretty narrow there. Suddenly a big, bulky guy in a black t-shirt shoulder-checks me and knocks me into my coworker, who is smaller than me. I immediately react by calling out "Watch it!" really loud. More to the coworker, so she doesn't get shoved into the side of the building.

But big, Black T-shirt Guy gives me a dirty look as if them's fighting words. He looks like he's about to start something. I instantly recognize him as the humourless security guard from Sam the Record Man up the street. And I've had my fill of confrontations with security recently. I hold my own and keep my head up and just keep walking, making sure my coworker is okay. Crisis averted.

But still, I bet if I turned around and stopped, I'm sure he would've loved to start something with me. What's up with that? Just because I'm a small guy (5'9", 130 lbs) big guys seem to think they can throw their weight around at me? Now I'm pretty street-smart and I knew exactly how to avoid escalating that situation. And I'm sure if it came to it, I could hold my own against just about anyone. Or at the very least escape with minimal injury.

I think it's the hot and humid weather that brings out all the goons and losers. But then again, it's not the heat, it's the stupidity! ;o)

- Word!
