So it's another Monday night and the forecast calls for rain or possibly thunderstorms. Great! Seek refuge in the cozy Kilgour's pub (509 Bloor St. W., just a few blocks east of Bathurst) for a fun night of
Scrabble in the City.
We might start out on the patio tonight. Starting next week, it might be too cool in the evenings for patio play, so Andrew Kilgour is letting us play inside tonight and into the colder weeks ahead.
For last week's film-related theme word, the popular vote went to Dale's play of STARRY. Dale won a box of microwave popcorn. My play of CINE tied with Jim's play of ACT so we donated the
Scrabble Game Folio Edition prize to newcomer Cathy, who joined us last week mostly to observe so she can bring some Scrabble to her local library. Now she's got a game to bring with her.
Last week we packed the back patio with about 20 players, including the return of David and Davey who both played with us back in the days at The Bishop and Belcher in the winter/spring season.
Since this Thursday marks our
autumnal equinox, the theme word prize tonight will be autumn. If you somehow get down the word EQUINOX I think you'll likely have that prize wrapped up. Other acceptable entries might include LEAVES, COLD, AUTUMN, or even FALL. Whatever you can come up with that describes autumn in Toronto.
Come play with us. Throw down some tiles while you knock back a pint. We start at 7PM and usually stick around 'til 11... sometimes later.
