Get BONKed on Monday night
In search for a topical Theme Word at last week's Scrabble in the City night, someone suggested sex. Not instead of Scrabble, but within the confines of the game. And what an orgy of words we came up with.
In my first game, where Mick and I were paired with Lillian and Jess, we played TUP, which means "to copulate with a ewe." Really. Look it up yourself! Later in the game we found MUSHILY on our rack. This was particularly satisfying as it scored 101 points and a challenge/free turn. It came at a time in the game where we were low on Sexy Theme Words compared to our opponents' STUD, RAPE, REAR and GAWK (oh my!). And it came in between two other bingos, BESTING and ENATION ("an outgrowth from the surface of an organ." Really sexy, eh?) giving us a whopping 274 points in the space of four turns, catapulting us to a 491 point finish. How sexy is that?
Other theme word submissions included: EVE, MEATY, WILT, FOAMED, YUM, FAG, JACK, FROTHED, BONK, LURID, FIST, SLIDING, VIRULENT, GENTLER and BOOB. I don't know what this says about your sex life, but you Scrabblers are an imaginative bunch, I'll give you that. TUP and MUSHILY tied for second place. Congratulations to Matthew and Michael for their winning Theme Word BONK, which scored them some fabulous bar swag. This just goes to show you that your four-letter-word vocabulary can still win ya somethin'.
While this is not just any old games night but a Scrabble night, I did spot rocketbox and littlehoudini switching it up on the couch with their mini Boggle set, while the rest of us kept the Scrabble games going until close to midnight.
Haven't had enough? Come join the two-dozen or so for a Word Orgy again tomorrow night, starting at 7PM. Let's see if we can top last week's submissions. Winners will receive a more appropriate prize (to our theme) this time. Scrabble in the City starts at 7PM.
