Help South East Asia
I rarely post messages like this, but I feel it is appropriate now. As I’m sure you have heard, the major earthquake that hit South East Asia on Christmas day has already claimed over 120,000 lives. Although the Tsunami has passed, the number will continue to rise because of floods, lack of drinking water, famine, disease, etc. Thousands are still missing and many have lost their homes.
If there ever was a time to offer your support to any cause, now is it. Many, many people are donating food, clothing, and money to support various international relief organizations. We can help too.
I’m writing this in hopes that you will lend your support in this terrible natural disaster. The people of South East Asia need our help. I’m asking everybody that reads this to please donate $10. You can donate more, or you can donate less. Every penny helps, but I believe $10 is a fair amount. If everybody can skip eating out for one meal and help, we can raise a lot of money.
I’m going to accept donations to my personal PayPal account. Every couple of days I will be sending any donations I receive to two organizations. 50% of all donations will go to American Red Cross, and the other 50% will go to CARE International.
As you may know, PayPal keeps a small percentage for all money sent through their service. In addition to the $50 I am pledging, I will pay all of the PayPal fees out of my own pocket. 100% of your donations will be sent to American Red Cross and CARE regardless of what PayPal charges me for receiving the funds.
I will provide copies of all receipts for the donations to anybody who requests them. If you would rather donate directly to American Red Cross you may do so at www.redcross.org. For CARE, you will find them at www.care.org.
If you chose to donate through me, you may do so at the PayPal Donation link at the bottom of this message. Please be sure to include your name, city of residence, and email address in the comments section so I can add you a list that I will be keeping at http://www.jeffpatch.com/?postid=86.
You can donate with your credit card or checking account through PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account, or do not wish to set one up, please contact me if you wish to donate using a check, money order, or cash. If you wish to use a credit card but do not want to use PayPal, please do so at the respective organization’s website.
