I read this line: You may prepare in whichever way you would prefer for the Spanish Inquisition.” And I laughed so loudly I woke up my son in the next room. It's funny on its own, but in contrast to Mr. Collins' instructions to Lizzy in the novel, it's hilarious. I really enjoy Frank and Spencer's relationship, and I'm so glad they built a real friendship out of the inheritance/proposal mess. I can't wait to meet Lady Helena. :o)
Oh, poor Brendon. You've done such a good job of showing his emotions; I felt worse for him than I did for Jane in the same situation, I think.
*hugs the fic tight* I love this bunches and bunches, and I'm so looking forward to the next chapter. Thanks for sharing!
♥ Thank you so much! "Villains" really were one of the biggest difficulties we had when approaching the text, so it's really great to hear that no one seems to mind us saying fuck it to the bad parts of Mr Collins' character and sliding Frank in instead. <3
Oh man, thank you so much for this (and the rec!) - it made me (and Rebecca, I suspect) beam ridiculously big. I think the idea about them not having that lifelong friendship was maybe one of the bits that interested us most about doing this as an AU - I remember we raised the conflict at the very beginning, when we were just plotting it out, because it does seem so incredibly weird at first. I was actually always a little bit worried about how people would take the idea of them without this massive history behind them, so it's really lovely to hear that you like it. ♥
I simply cannot wait for the marriage proposal, it should at the next chapter or the one after, right? Is there a Georgianna in this version, I wonder... Ooh, could it be Patrick?
And after this incoherent rambling, I should mention how much I am loving this. Any Austen AUs I've read tend to follow the source material too closely, and copy the dialogues and situations too exactly, which creates a rather awkward style, but this is just wonderfully balanced. I cannot wait for the next chapter, really can't...
Watch out for the next chapter, if you want the frantic awkward proposal. *g* There is most definitely a Georgianna, yes. It’s not Patrick, though. And thank you so much! We weren’t always sure how close to the original we should stick because that’s obviously a hard balance to achieve, but we’re happy it’s working for you!

Also, more Frank! And Gee! And transparent misunderstandings! <3
Possibly TMI sidenote: I found a copy of The Prince in my underwear drawer a few days ago. I'm still not quite sure what that says about me.
