His paintings could not have told him how Matt Parkman would feel. Before this, every time he had touched Matt’s face, it had been smooth paint, the cool unyielding touch of stone beneath. The real Matt was hard in places, yes, but soft in others. And there was nothing cold about him. He was all warm, all life, dynamic movement and nothing like the static pictures Utusu had surrounded his life with.
This was wrong. There wasn’t a moment in Matt Parkman’s life that Utusu hadn’t painted. And he hadn’t painted this. Matt shouldn’t be here. Utusu shouldn’t be doing this. And yet:
Utusu tongued his way down Matt’s chest, fingers touching only the places that hadn’t been burned. Future be damned, powers be damned. Matt sucked in a deep, shuddering breath as Utusu reached his core. There was something delicious in being wrong. Something...
