You scream in shades of red
Burgundy to crimson
And I cringe in varying degrees
Depending on your tone
Vibrations from your whisper
Are rich, chocolate brown
They melt through me slowly
Sliding in all wet and warm
You speak to me in midnight blues
Purples and deep forest greens
Solid and strong as your elocution
And impressive vocabulary
Exhaustion turns you mottled heather
Your happiness is crisp and gold
Your sarcasm has a metallic edge
And your sadness is dull, heavy steel
But sometimes your voice grows cold
Sometimes the connection drops out
This fading of color is what I fear, when
Sometimes I hear the sound of white
