Bronwyn bore us a Son yesterday morning. A seven pound, 11 ounce, 21 inch, fiery little ball of blue-black eyes and curly blond hair.
There were extremely minor tests the hospital wants and the baby will be in the hospital with Bronwyn until Tuesday waiting on some test results. They are both doing extremely well. Believe me...there is NOTHING wrong with this kids lungs or his ability to exercise them.
I have had about 7 hours sleep since about 5:00am monday, so I will make this brief.
For those who did not see the text message, his name is Drake Toryn Schmidhuber and I am proud to call him my Son.
So...I am drinking a coffee, followed by a shower and then heading to the hospital. There, I am going to spend the rest of the day with the love of my life and the future ruler of the known universe that she bore me yesterday.
And as I drift off asleep in the room's 'daddy recliner' I will be musing things like what IS the proper age to introduce your child to Machiavelli, Christopher Hitchens, Graham Hankcock, A.O. Spare, Frank Lloyd Wright, Roger Zelany, Robert Heinlein (and some Kafka who he gets too big for his britches)?
P.S. Thanks for all the help in naming this child from everyone, especially our families and Ty and her adorable kids Johnathan and Allyra.
And thanks Ty. When I put down all the paper lists like you told me to and then I just held him for a few hours...his name just came to me. I love having smart friends.
Now...First Timer Father needs a shower and legal stimulants BADLY.
Peace and Prosperity to all our friends and family.
My child will have a better father, for I have been lucky enough to know you.
P.P.S. This initial rush of Proud Father hormones. FUCK. I am almost afraid this stuff is going to come with a hangover. I am not sure I am allowed to feel THIS good without getting at least a headache afterward.
