Turning plastic into oil
Sometimes science pulls a rabbit out of a hat that I never expected (and I expect a lot).
Some cats have figured out how to convert plastic back into oil with a microwave bombardment.

Sounds like an excellent solution to the large mass of plastics in the ocean near Hawaii. Pull it up and make some oil out of it.
