Touya's head lolled against the seat as he tried to sleep. The flight to Los Angeles was starting to wear on him; six hours had passed and there were still a lot more to come. He tried to occupy his mind with thoughts of the tournaments he would see and participate in, but when his ears wouldn't stop popping, he quickly lost interest.

Hikaru was sitting behind him, reading a magazine. Every so often he would lean forward, whisper "psst, Touya!" and, when Touya didn't answer, grumble to himself about Touya being a heavy sleeper.

When they arrived in the airport, Touya had to be prodded awake by Hikaru. "Wow, you really slept a lot, didn't you?" he asked.

Touya shrugged him off and reached for his carry-on bag, walking as smartly as possible through the terminal. Hikaru walked next to him, one step behind, his carry-on much larger, making him stagger a little bit. Touya had no idea what Hikaru had brought with him until they stepped outside.

"Didn't you bring a jacket?" asked Hikaru. It was freezing outside, the rain falling hard onto the cement. Touya had been told it would be nothing but sunshine, that there were no real seasons to LA; he held his thin coat tighter around him.

Hikaru sighed, dropping his bag, opening the zipper and rifling through it until he found two coats: one brown, one grey. He picked the brown one for himself, handing the grey to Touya, who insisted he didn't need it until the shivers grew too hard to contain and he snatched it away, not looking at Hikaru as he put it on. Hikaru only sighed again.

The hotel was warm and dry but Touya kept Hikaru's jacket zipped up, his hands shoved into the pockets, ignoring the wad of gum wrappers he found in the right side. He followed in a daze, his legs beginning to feel a little wobbly as he and Hikaru were shown to their adjoining rooms. For some reason, Hikaru was given both keys; Touya snatched his without a word and walked into his room, closing the door behind him. He flopped onto the bed, curling against the pillows.

Hikaru walked in what felt like seconds later. Touya stared at him blearily and told him to get out - that he was invading his privacy. Hikaru gave him a strange look and said, "it's five-thirty."

"So?"

"Um. Dinner?"

Touya had to blink several more times before their conversation made sense. "I've been sleeping for...seven hours?"

Hikaru nodded.

"But...we just got here."

Hikaru shook his head.

"...oh."

Suddenly, Hikaru's face lit up. "Wait here!"

Touya felt too groggy to argue, mostly just happy that Hikaru had left him to spend more quality time with the bed. The happy moment did not last for long as Hikaru bustled in, shaking Touya awake and demanding he sit up.

"I brought food!" he said happily, pulling up a table. "NcDonald's!"

Touya sat on his bed, Hikaru sitting across from him on a hotel chair. Both ate in silence, Touya suddenly realising how hungry he was. He finished his meal and a third of Hikaru's before leaning back on the bed, letting out a small burp. His eyes widened and he covered his mouth with his hand, muttering and apology for being so rude.

Hikaru laughed. "Don't worry about it! It's just us here."

Touya's eyebrows quirked upward. "Shouldn't you be practicing for the tournament?"

Hikaru pushed back the chair, making his way onto the bed. He fished around the nightstand a few seconds before pulling up a remote. He switched on the television. "You just want me out of your room."

"True," said Touya, unsurprised when this didn't seem to phase Hikaru, who instead settled back against the pillows, watching cartoons with wide eyes. Touya did the only thing he could think to do, which was to flop back down on the bed once more, claiming one of the pillows for himself.

Hikaru seemed to slide lower and lower, finally settling on his back, elbow touching Touya's. "Hey, Touya," he said a few seconds later.

Touya forced his eyes open to look at Hikaru. "What?" he said a little irritably.

Hikaru's eyes were wide. Ed, Edd and Eddie sounded in the background. The bed shifted as Hikaru leaned down, eyes open, pressing his lips softly to Touya's.

"...what was that?" asked Touya, his voice strained.

"Uh. A kiss?" said Hikaru, not seeming quite sure himself.

"...oh."

Hikaru rolled onto his back, looking up at the television screen. Neither spoke for a few seconds. Touya still couldn't really focus on anything, eye-wise or mind-wise, but for some reason, his body seemed uninterested in sleep. He tried to think about what had happened and why they were just sitting there - no, lying there - together, neither speaking when Hikaru had just kissed him and -

"...is that your hand?" asked Touya.

"...yeah."

"I...what are you doing?"

Hikaru's fingers slipped through his.

"...oh."

Hikaru chuckled. "You say that a lot."

"...oh. I mean, do I?"

"Yeah."

Touya blinked. He felt sleepy again, warmer this time - more relaxed. He realised Hikaru's jacket was still wrapped around him and he squirmed a little at the thought.

"Are you okay?" asked Hikaru, watching him with concerned eyes.

Touya kissed him.

"...hey. Touya?"

"Yes?"

"Can I sleep here? Just till the jet lag wears off."

Touya's body curled in, slightly closer to Hikaru's. "Sure," he mumbled sleepily.

Hikaru smiled and yawned, falling asleep two minutes later, Touya's head leaning against his shoulder, both wrapped up in winter jackets, snoring contentedly.
