I don't update very often.

Last Wednesday was my final day at Barnes and Nobles. I was quitting that job, right on the cusp of being promoted to lead, to go over to the Marriott hotel Starbucks and get paid three more bucks an hour to do the same job. Both Tom Church and I were making the switch after several others had done so in the past.

Most everyone I talk to is aware of my trepidation about this decision. But I really couldn't come up with decent reasons for not leaving. $12.20 an hour as opposed to the $9.25 I was making? Why was my gut arguing so much about this with me? Why in God's name did it just shriek BAD IDEA to me every night when I passed out in a drunken stupor.

Monday was my first day at the Marriott, and that answered my questions. It was the most overwhelmingly abysmal day I've had at work since the casting job I had in '99. Roger remembers that ordeal, I imagine.
So I worked through Tuesday and then quit Wednesday morning from Greg's house.

So, I guess I'm banned from ever working at a Marriott for the rest of my life. No loss there. Sometimes less money is worth the peace of mind that comes with it. Hell, at the Marriott I would have to wait 3 months before getting insurance. So I'd hafta pay full price for the therapy I'd need to keep working there.

Its funny that I tossed this decision around for so long, and only now made the one I should have made a week ago.
