Gays
Ok, I found it. One of the prime examples against gays being together according to the Christian point of view is from Lviticus, Chapter 18. In it, it says:
"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; such a thing is an abomination." Lev 18:22
This is God talking to Moses, by the way. Now, to say that one is lying with a male as with a woman means to have sexual intercourse in the nether regions, period. That is what was considered sex back then and now. Now, the thing that got me thinking is in the next part...
"You shall not have carnal relations with an animal, defiling yourself with it; nor shall a woman set herself in frount of an animal to mate with it; such things are abhorrent." Lev 18:23
Notice how the Bible mentioned both men AND women in this last part, but one sentence before women were left out. Now, if you're on the same track as I am after this, you'll have come to the same conclusion I have...
The Bible does not say that being a lesbian is wrong.
Now, there's just the matter of gay men to worry about here...and by my reading, it would seem that we have to look at the wording. To lie with a man as with a woman. Sticking your truck in her garage. Well, I don't think I have to continue as to see what the writers of Leviticus determined was such an "abomination". Anal sex. This is understandable, considering I think that it very well may be possible for anal sex to be avoided by gay male couples.
This all being said, I just interpreted the bible as saying that there is nothing wrong with lesbian couples and that gay male couples are fine just so long as the don't go around poking eachother in the ass. Well, let's say we got all the gay men in the world to agree to stop practicing in anal sex. Does ANYONE think that would solve the issue of gay acceptance and marriage? I don't. But if people would acknowledge what just took me 5 minutes to discover, maybe they could stop using the bible as an excuse and get over their own moral qualms. Thank you.
