Karuta log #1
After more than one month in the Waseda U Karuta club, I finally got more than 95% of the cards memorized, and played my first game of karuta today without hints and chances. Good time to start keeping a log of my games.

#1 1500h~ against (forgot name)
Loss, 21 cards. Cards won: 14. お手つき: 10.
#2 1645h~ against 田中
Loss, 11 cards. Cards won: 15. お手つき: 2
A few pointers:
1) Target cards in opponent area first.
2) Be patient with cards with long 決まり字
3) Don't be afraid of making mistakes for cards with short 決まり字
4) Fast-reaction cards: ち～、つ～、た～、は～、ひ～、etc
5) Slow-reaction cards: な～、か～、わ～、よ～、etc
6) Keep up the good reaction times wrt right side of own area.
7) Work on reacting faster to cards in #5.
8) Get to 100% confidence in card memorization i.e. zero doubt when reading cards.
