Thrifty Thrifting
At the used book store was a tall pile of Threads Magazine back issues - including every Starmore issue (Fair Isle, Aran, Shetland lace, a couple of others) and a dozen more containing knitting AND spinning articles of interest. Vol. 1 Issue 1 was at the very bottom. I'll read these in order and it will be interesting to see the evolution of the magazine as I progress from oldest to newest. The roots of IK Knits and Spin-Off, and Piecework too, are quite evident.
Next door at Goodwill I found two Pyrex lids for Corningware casseroles (married at the hip, those two companies used to be) for a dollar each. Also a
Pyrex 475 Old Orchard casserole. I spotted the lid first and picked it up "because you never know when you'll find a bottom to match" - then I turned the corner and Lo! There was a matching bottom, how fortuitous!
Total outlay (keeping in mind that I bought what seems like a gross of magazine back-issues) was less than $20.
Last week at the same Goodwill I found a NordicWare stovetop Belgian waffler (not something I need since I have a slick electric waffler but for the price I can clean it up and gift it along), a Krumkake iron complete in the box (vintage and well-used but complete!) and a huge canning kettle, plus a couple of unremarkable clear Pyrex single-serve casseroles with lids - all for less than $15.

I stupidly wiped my "old" cellphone without archiving my contact info. Chances are you already know this as I sent out a broadcast email last night asking for contact info. If you did not receive such an email please don't be offended, just know that my email contact list is endless and my mind is going (hence why I maintain contact lists, yeah?).
Now I need to see if PC connectivity is an option for this phone, which did not come with a data cable. Finding a USB to micro-USB cable shouldn't be a problem but nothing I've read in the manual suggests there's a PC app... Sprint of course wants me to sign up for "wireless data backup" - for a price, naturally.
Sundry
Knitting proceeds. Last week I spun and knitted an Irish Hiking Scarf - the siren call of big yarn and big needles keeps distracting me from the fiddly beaded lace knitting I've since started. The temptation to haul out the rest of my Hershey roving and spin a sweater is strong but I am resolved to work on ONE PROJECT AT A TIME this year and to have NO UFOs come January 1. We shall see!
