One of the biggest issues I have with the new Australian Internet Censorship Legislation proposed is the reason. To use a paradigm, the donkey they've hitched the cart to is "Child Pornography". They want to stop people who molest children giving electronic copies of their activities to other people who molest children. That sounds reasonable, only surely it would be better to stop the people from molesting children in the first place? Putting Censorship in place won't stop them molesting children, in fact it seems to me that it will provoke them into doing so since they can't get electronic gratification. Surely it would be better to put systems in place to enable the police to track the child molesters activity, then bring them in and attempt to change their ways? Internet Censorship will not stop Child Molestation, it will merely hide the evidence and make it harder to catch those who have such abominable practices....
