blech - my shitastic luck, x-men 3 spoiler review and slashfest

Broke a tooth on Saturday night... how? That's a great question. I have no idea. I was eating some cheese, crackers and grapes. Next thing I know, I slice my tongue on the sharp edge of a broken tooth. According to my dental tech sister, I'm going to need a crown. Blech. Not a happy camper.

This morning, I woke up and my thumb drive (the drive I keep ALL my WIPs) was in four pieces. Anyone know if there's a way to get information off of the chip inside the thumbdrive as the USB port thingie is no longer attached?

Also - went to see X3 -

Overall, I liked it. To me, the storyline and the action flowed a bit more like the comic books. I love Wolverine in this. Hugh Jackman moves exactly like I picture Wolverine to move.

I also really liked Iceman/Bobby for the most part. Although, at the end when he's fighting Pyro - I wanted to slap that whiny baby expression of his face. He looked like he was going to cry, not like he was fighting for his life.

My problems with the movie are plenty (and keep in mind that I did like the movie, yeah?)

1.) Piotr or Colossus is RUSSIAN. He is NOT American. Hello! Would it have been so sodding hard to have him speak in a Russian accent?!

2.) Jean Grey - the Phoenix thing. Yeah, just ick.

3.) Storm's characterization - I really did not like Halle Berry's angry Storm. To me, Storm will always be a Goddess-worshiping kind of woman. I like her a bit more calm and a little less rude. Plus - a little less Halle Berry would be nice as well.

4.) As hot as the actor was that played him, Archangel was just not on for me. Archangel (and correct me if I'm remembering my comic canon correctly or not) was one of the founding five. I've always pictured him to be more Cyclops/Jean Grey/Storm's age, not Bobby/Rogue/Kitty Pride/Jubilee's age. He seemed far too young.

What I liked about the movie -

1.) Scott Summers dies. YAYES! Why yayes? Cause I've never much cared for him. Plus - the producers/directors/writers all said that they would never include Gambit in any of the X-men movies as he's too close to Scott in power and too close to Wolverine in personality. So - possibility of Gambit in X-4 if the make it just went WAY up!

2.) Kitty Pride. YAYES for Kitty Pride. She was so cute and perky and funny and amazing. I love Kitty Pride.

3.) Beast was far too fucking cool. Seriously. He was awesome at the last fight where he was trying to be a philosopher and then said "oh you get the point". His flying through the air, his flips, his turns, all of that fight sequence was how I pictured him from the comics. Way too f'in cool for me.

4.) Gambit. Ok, so he wasn't in it. And that's a good thing in a way as the buzz on all the Gambit sites that I watch was buzzing that he would be serving Magneto and just...no. That would be wrong and I'm glad to see that that buzz was wrong. My Gambit (and yes, I'm a huge Gambit fangirl cause he's too cool for school) is not an evil dude. He's not with Magneto and he sure as shit doesn't serve Mister Sinister anymore.

5.) Rogue. I'm so very very glad that that stupid selfish bint no longer has her powers and shan't be an X-men any more. Serious dislike for her through the comics because of her treatment of Gambit. I'm not a Romy fan, obviously.

6.) The action itself. The fight sequences were brilliantly coordinated. Compared to other movies I've had the misfortune of seeing lately (Tristan and Isolde comes to mind), these fight moves seemed natural and not choreographed. It was fairly easy to get sucked in to the fights because of how fluid the moves were.

7.) Things go 'splodey... in a good way. I adored the Pyro/Magneto flinging of cars lit on fire. Serious love for that part. Dude, if I was one of the army dudes at the time, I woulda been wetting my pants in fear.

8.) Juggernaut was awesome. I loved that chase sequence with him and Kitty Pride. I never really imagined him with that accent but it really worked for me... especially the "I'm the Juggernaut, Bitch." line. That made me giggle and coo at him, I'll admit it.

9.) But, by far, the best is the actual ending. I adored that bit. Want to see it, you need to wait until after the credits cause I'm not sharing. I just adored the possibilities.

So, I totally plan on claiming an X-Men request at slashfest. I'm super excited for it. We have some brilliant requests including some h/d, deamus, remus/sirius, death eaters and more.

If you haven't put in your requests, I urge you to do so as requesting will be closed down either late tonight or tomorrow morning. Any fandom/ Any slash pairing. You get three requests so keep that in mind. We also haven't received all that many Star Wars requests so, Star Wars fans on my flist - consider yourself *poked*.

Requesting things does not mean that you have to fulfill someone else's requests. So, request away!

And now - even though I told my family that I would be on the internet all weekend due to slashfest, I now have to go downstairs and totter about on a ladder to re-paint the kitchen because my mother doesn't like the color that I've hated since we bought it. I told her that she'd hate it but no, I'm an idiot that doesn't know what she's talking about. So, now I get to re-paint what we just painted a bit ago (and keep in mind that we have 20 foot walls in the kitchen).

slashfest, movies, personal, x-men
