As first noted by jaybear on my friends list, LJ could be shutting down really soon seeing as how they have laid off all the technical people.
I would suggest everyone make a backup of their journal using LJArchive ASAP. Always better safe than sorry.
I'll probably move to Blogger or Vox should LJ go away. If you want to keep in touch but do not have my email address yet, donald AT woofytexan then dot com.
Update: For Mac users, take a look at LJ Dump. It has a support community if you need help.
Another Update: LJArchive may need you to update text encoding in your profile. That is located at http://www.livejournal.com/settings/?c=OldEncoding
