Trolleys and Follies

i'd decided to stay in SF after the course ended to meet up with some friends and have a little fun. Of course, work is work, so as usual, i worked from home which, this week, just happened to be a hotel. Since i spend half my time in hotels, one hotel being a lot like the other, it might as well be home. Have wi-fi will travel.

After work, i headed down towards the Embarcadero to find some food and see a little seeing. i stopped by the Palace Hotel and it was pretty grand. i went to the lounge to see the Maxfield Parrish paintings there and the Crystal Ballroom was quite posh indeed.

i didn't really find anything i wanted to eat, but did get to do a little trainspotting. i love the F-Line that goes from down by Fisherman's Wharf, along the waterfront to the Embarcadero and then turns down Market Street and up to the Castro. For those who aren't familiar, they've stocked it with refurbished historic trolleys and streetcars from around the world. A rolling museum which i applaud.

Friday night was Bearacuda - the big dance. It was a really cool time in a nice space, but had to work hard to live up to the FAT Dance the night before. Got to spend more time with Dicky/boyshapedbox and a bunch of non-LJ friends and reconnected with the adorable Dylan/noodlesandbeef who i hadn't seen in a long time.

Getting home was just as much an adventure. With everything going on, finding a free cab was impossible, but my MUNI pass and a lucky find of a bus got me at least in the neighborhood. Strange folks out that time of night.
