Takin' It To The Streets
For the first time, i had Matt take me down to Soulard for the St Louis Mardi Gras - "the biggest Mardi Gras outside of New Orleans" as we are so fond of saying here. We have always spent the day at JJ's bartending for charity, so never made it. This year we were off.
We went to JJ's, paid our $3 for the shuttle ticket and were on our way. We were with the gang and made out way to the backyard of a friend of Kevin & Chad's who lived there and offered us shelter from the maddening crowds. But i wanted a cocktail - i'd come to drink, after all - and so Matt and i made our way around the neighborhood. We lasted less than 90 minutes. By the time the third drunk guy fell on Matt, i'd had enough. The last guy hit the mailbox, went over a bush, smacked my ankle and hit his head on the sidewalk...but by-god he held onto his phone and kept talking. So we went back to JJ's, had a lot of hurricanes and were joined soon by our other friends. THEN we had fun.
i must be getting immune...while i had a buzz, i should have been more toasted than i was. Go figure!
