Eyewear On The Island

Jan 17, 2012 07:10

i got into town early yesterday, but since the client took MLK day off, i went into the city to meet Dom/liftinmoose for lunch. We wandered around and chatted and caught up with each other's lives. We found a nice vietnamese restaurant for lunch. i didn't think i was that hungry, but ate everything that was put in front of me.

Afterwards, we went to Mott St Optical, a little eyeglass shop that a friend of mine suggested might have some frames to fit my fat head. i found a couple, but nothing that was perfect.

After Chinatown, we headed north into Little Italy which is only a hint of its former self. The hawkers on the street trying to coax you into their restaurants got really annoying. i didn't think i had "tourist" written on my forehead (under my hipster hat) and Dom definitely didn't look the part. Maybe the just do it to everyone. You never know. As we left LI, i came across the Paul Frank store, he of the funny monkey drawings. Surprisingly they had eyeglasses, but they were faux glasses and the one i tried on was actually called "Instant Intellectual". They fit great and looked good. i took a pic to send to Matt, but then decided to just get them. Matt will understand and i'm sure i can find a place to retrofit them with actual lenses. After that, it was time to head back to the Port Authority Terminal. We passed Parsons on the way back and i had to get my pic taken so i could walk the runway. Someday. LOL. What a fun day off!
