I've kinda lost my taste for horror movies. They inevitably end up being torture porn (physical or psychological) or an exercise in startling people. There's a trend to have the monster win lately, too, which I find disappointing. The thing I enjoyed was the buildup of tension and the catharsis at the end. If all they do is kill or torment the characters for 2 hours and then leave them dead or tormented at the end it seems kinda pointless.
