We went out to party with all of our friends for Pride on Saturday evening. i knew Matt wouldn't want to stay too late, so i kinda "front-loaded" my drink orders. It was to backfire on me for, just as we were getting ready to leave, the intense burst of thunderstorms set off a flash flood that trapped everyone in the bar.
The construction on the Metrolink viaduct had blocked the stormdrains with building materials and it quickly backed up. We didn't get out for a couple of hours. Everyone was cool and didn't let it get us down. Looking out, cars were floating down Market and Vandeventer. We were in the parking lot and so did the water. Heck, it was almost up to the top of the picnic tables on the new patio. As for our van, it got into the floorboards and since the backseats were folded into the floor, they were soaked as well.
As we tried to leave, the front tire went flat. We're not sure if we ran over something or something hit the tire floating along since the sidewall was punctured. We got down to the GoodWill (the old Famous Barr warehouse) and pulled it over. SIR was right behind us and took us home. Sunday, we bailed out the pool in the back and used the vacs down at the car wash to suck out the water. We don't have an appointment with the insurance company until Friday. It'll be ok, but some of our friends were not as lucky as their cars were totalled. *sigh*
