Milk, Eggs, Vodka, Books, Cameras, Japanese Maples...

We got home Monday night and as i'd taken the whole week off, didn't have to do a whole lot or get up early, but i woke up early anyway. Mostly fiddling around the house, editing those zillions of pics (894 taken, 252 posted to flickr) and playing with the kids. We got to have lunch on Tuesday at one of our favorite neighborhood places and it's nice to get to go on a weekday. Then we headed down to South County. Matt wanted to go to Borders and pick up some more "Kurt Wallender" mysteries - his latest reading kick. i got some foreign auto mags and then we checked out new Lumix cameras as this one is about worn out. i lost the flash in the last fall. Yes, i have the water-/shock-/woofer-proof Lumix, but it only has a 28mm lens and i need wider. The wooferCam has a 25 and the new ZS-10 and ZS-08 (the 10 has GPS!!) have 24mm lens! Samsung just upped the ante with a 21, but i really love my Lumixes. i'll probably go buy one tomorrow. Then we picked up the essentials for the house. You know...milk, eggs, vodka...

That doesn't mean there weren't chores. The japanese maple that Matt had moved from the front to the rear of the house was getting killed by hot air blown on it by the AC so we had to tranplant it. It looks like a lot of work, but was really easy and the kids got to play in the backyard while we worked. i think that will be a good place for it. You'll be able to see it coming down the way. i busted the old pickaxe that came with the house. The handle was rotting and the head was rusted. Good thing it didn't hit Matt or the kids when it went flying. Time for a new one.
