OMG, it's finally here!! Hibearnation, the Show-Me Bears' annual run here in St Louis. This year will be extra special because so many friends from here on LJ are coming and they'll finally get to meet my wonderful Matthew and see what i'm all gaga about and a little bit of the city that they've seen in my pictures. And so to keep up the tradition that i started earlier this year at TBRU, i'm organizing an LJ Meet-n-Greet on Saturday morning. Now, i know we had a poll a while back and most of us wanted to meet up at noon. And in the run book, you'll see a version of this ad (another excuse to give money to the cause) saying that it'll be at noon as well. But recent events in the history of our nation have necessitated that we move it up an hour to 11am.
As you have no doubt read, the Prop 8 protest site Join The Impact has gone viral and a groundswell of activism has taken the country by storm and this Saturday is the day to proclaim our faith! i've had some of you guys asking if the bears were joining the protest and as a club there won't be any "official" organizing. But it turns out that it has gotten ridiculously convenient to join the impact! The original plan was to go to City Hall at 10am, but no one goes there so no one will see it and no one will care. But now, the protest is going to be at noon at the Old Courthouse in the shadow of the Arch. This is the perfect location since two important cases for freedom were tried here: Dred Scott, a slave fighting for his freedome and Virginia Minor, a woman fighting for her right to vote. Oh, and did i mention that the Old Courthouse is only 2 short blocks from the Crowne Plaza, our host hotel?? How friggin' convenient is that?? So bring a hoody, bring a flag, bring the bear you love and JOIN THE IMPACT!!
After that, come back to the hotel, warm up and come see jbj_bear, jcubmn and plaghs (AKA Joel, Jason and Shannon) record their b-TALK podcast live at 1:30!
