Peace, Vigilance, woofer and the Eagle

Work rolls on, we're going live on Monday come hell or high water and seeing as we've already had the high water - the Mississippi crested last week - we're just gonna burn. i'm looking forward to my couple weeks off starting next week with a long weekend running around naked at Cactus Canyon and then turning around to head to MSP for the MNBearBall. The Cactus Canyon trip is really getting big and it looks like we're going to have at least 30 bears in our group alone!! i don't get to take the jeep this year since i have to drive the truck carrying the camper-trailer. But that means Mr Wonderful, my dear kiwi59, gets to sleep in air-conditioned comfort as opposed to the glorified plywood box "cabin" we've stayed in the past couple of years. So, sorry, directorbear, no naked jeepin' this year, but i'm sure that we'll come up with other fun diversions. The trip to Minneapolis is going to be extra special since i'm going up a couple of days earlier and hanging out with Shannon & Luke/plaghs & texasbearcub and get to see some of the city that i didn't get during my stint working there this past winter. It'll be nice to see the town w/out being covered in 3 feet of snow. LOL!

And speaking of hanging out, Sean/bluebubbleblue will be arriving from Taipei on 18 SEP to stay with us for a few days. If anyone else would like to meet him, make plans now to get your butts up to STL that weekend. And speaking of meeting people, tonight, Matt and i are getting to meet Stef/men_in_full and her hubby for the first time at - wait for IT!! - Fitz's. Yes, we take everyone there, it seems. But everyone enjoys it and the Loop is a cool place anyway, so why not? Speaking of dinners AND international travelers, Tim/timbearuk & his hubby, Steve, are here in the US from the UK (duh!) and will be hitting town next Tuesday and Matt and i will be taking them to dinner as well. Fitz's? Maybe. But we're also thinking of Penny's Bar-B-Q which is also super-yummy. Hmmm...one dinner to represent the city. While we're speaking of dinners, Matt and i have reservations for our 7th Anniversary dinner on Saturday night at Harvest which Matt has always wanted to go to.

And speaking of anniversaries, this morning Matt asked me where the hell his Adidas Campus ST's were that bulldogcubnj reported getting in this post and i allegedly ordered last week from Piperlime, the shoe store part of the Gap. It was kinda crazy at work last week and once i found them and put them in the cart and filled out all the account info and thought that i had ordered them along with some red/white/blue adidas' that would go with my wrestling singlet. So i looked this morning and it said that some items had been removed from my cart since they were out of stock now. Did i not order them? Shit. i guess i better get looking. If anyone feels like sniffing around, i need a 9.5. kthx!

EDIT: Matt found the shoes he wanted and ordered them. Thanx for the help!

WHEW!! Finally, our picture of the day takes place inside the Old Post Office just down the street. The OPO is featured at the background right side of this picture and is the back drop of this picture. "On the outside of the OPO below the dome was the sculpture “Peace and Vigilance” by Daniel Chester French, who also sculpted the famous Abraham Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial. The sculpture has also been called “America at War and Peace,” as well as “Peace, Vigilance and the American Eagle.” The original sculpture was restored and relocated to the OPO’s first floor in 1991 and a replica now rests at the base of the dome."
You can read more about this historic building here. Well, i guess i'd best get some work done.
