We're finding that all marriage does is give you some more rights to legal recourse after the fact. I am all for slapping those people who say "marriage smairrage, whatever."

When it comes down to brass tacks, unless you have a stack of very specifically drawn up legal documents in-hand, that asshole nurse, that asshole municipal worker, that asshole ________ can still fuck with you to their heart's content. There is nothing you can do but bring legal action after the fact. Fat lot of good that does after you have been denied access to your husband or being able to make the health care decision that needed to be made before the phobic asshole twat injected their "morality" in to the mix.

The commonwealth of Massachusetts REQUIRES us to file as married. This puts an undue burden and expense on us. Why? Because that is not a valid option for FEDERAL returns which are based on STATE returns. The result: I have to pay to have TWO SEPARATE SETS OF STATE RETURNS prepared. One for the state, and one set to use with the federal return. It's all completely fucking fucked. Motherfuckers. That's fucking all. Fuck.
