i finally got my taxes done. i know, i know, you're saying: "But woofer! you've still got your clothes on!!" LOL!! The past couple years (as usual) i did my taxes myself, so i could do them
NSFW-ly at home. But since i worked in three states last year, the BACC will pay to have them done so that's $320 i've saved and to be honest, TurboTax, even at a discount, would charge at least $250 with the multiple states. So that's a good deal. The final fall out was -$125 Federal, +$34 Illinois, +$112 Minnesota and -$279 for Missouri. The reason for this whacked out number for Missouri is that i don't have state taxes deducted from my Army pension. So with a $404 payout and $146 coming back, the fact that i get back the prep charges makes it pretty much a wash. i probably could have done better had i been able to deduct Matt's knee, but most of that i had prepared for with a FSA where they took a bunch of money out pre-tax. You gotta be careful with those, though, since if you don't spend it, you lose it. What a racket. And no, i don't get a refund, but at least i didn't lose any potential interest on what is really a glorified
Christmas Club. Moving on.
It was the first sunny weekday in weeks so over lunch i took a stroll 5 blocks or so away to City Hall to get a copy of my real estate and personal property tax reciepts for the past two years. The Bradford pears (non-fruit-bearing) were in bloom all of a sudden and the air was crisp and clean. The wooferJeep needs to be re-registered and i have to have that proof and i can't find it though it's probably with the paperwork on Matt's Mercedes which was due this time last year. Since the taxes are already paid (about $220/year) the tags are either $42 for a year or $82 for two. i just wonder if the damn thing will last a year, much less two! LOL!
