i flew a little below the radar yesterday. Matt had a busy day, though, between working the phones and faxing offers back and forth on a house he'd been trying to sell for our buddies, Mark & Wil. Then he hit the streets to show houses. i stayed at home and manned the fax machine for him while watching
"The Testament of Dr. Mabuse", a classic of German cinema by Fritz Lang, the director of "M", "The Blue Angel" and "Metropolis". i was also working on my plans for the Mr Heartland Bear contest that is coming up in just two months. i need to find me some "qualified judges" to come to town and help me with this. Anyone interested? You have to get to St. Louis on the 6/7/8th of June, but i can cover 2 nights in a hotel with my budget. Now, i'm not going to start a whole "what's a bear" rant again, i'm thinking "qualified" is along the lines of being an officer or long-term member in a bear club or working for a bear-related magazine/website/business or something like that. i'm in talks on getting a bear musician to come to town to help with the judging and, hopefully, play a few tunes as well. i'm not going to spend half of the contest talking about the judges - it's all about the contestants - but i'm not above plugging your business/website/bear run/etc. By the same token, if you're interested in entering the contest, you're welcome if you live in the following states: Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Ohio. That's our loose definition of "Heartland". C'mon down!! After our board meeting, i had to get down to the bar since the Bears were hosting the Mr Midwest Leather Victory Party/BeerBust. While i was down there, i got a call from Matt: HE SOLD THE HOUSE!! WOO-HOO!! That's my man!
