"What A Dump! i'm Leaving..."
Last Wednesday, as i was packing for Dallas, i got an email from my new project asking me to come start early as they were having issues with the system that they were currently rolling out and could use some help. Alas, i couldn't do that, i told them, but if they were still having problems by Monday, drop me a line and i'd come in on Tuesday and cut my vacation short. What an idiot. Of course, there was an email waiting for me when i got home and so yesterday was my first day on the new project downtown. What a dump. You really can't see it in the picture, but they only empty the trash once a week and there's crap everywhere and it's dirty. The lights are dim and it's just extra-dreary. *ugh* And the first day is always weird anyway. They figured out the problem...it was in the backend coding. i thought so. On the way home, i stopped by a friend's house to help him with his wireless network. Turns out it wasn't his network at all, but this new VPN shit that his new company installed on his laptop, so i couldn't fix that. But i found the culprit, so that's a start at least. Then, to top it all off, the babyJeep wouldn't start to come home. Electrical again; i suspect that the new cable connector that i put on the new battery wasn't very well connected - it was a really cold day - so i have to deal with that this evening. Oh, and there's a funeral for one of our club brothers this evening as well. Sclerosis of the liver, i understand. Well, he was a drinker. Nice guy, though; always ready to help. He went quick. i can only hope for as much when the time comes.
EDIT: Update - i've been moved into the little conference room-ette with the rest of the gang. The lighting is better at least.
