Woofy In Zurich

Dec 19, 2007 09:14

The weekend before last, i was invited down to Zurich by a good friend of Egon & Erich's ( here & here), a woofy daddybear by the name of...wait for it...Erich. (OK, there are two bears in this entire country and they are both named "Erich". i'm serious...for such a bear-centric country, there are few bears). i took the train down ( yesterday's post and had a wonderful time - all those "santa hat" pics were from my trip there too. And here is the rest of the story...

As we walked along the banks of Lake Zurich on Saturday morning, i heard an alpine horn echoing across the water. i looked around a bank of fir trees and found this player. WIN!

With the reformation, the protestants took over all of the cathedrals, stripped away EVERY form of decoration and plastered over all the paintings in a manner that would do the Taliban proud. Thus, Swiss churches and cathedrals are some of the most boring places ever. However, in the '70s (?), Marc Chagall did these stained glass windows. You were forbidden from taking pictures so, naturally, i took one. Fuck them and their boring-ass religion!!

...gotmoof-inspired cows, tasty bears and a tram that allows only kids, is driven by "Samiclause" and has an angel telling christmas tales...

...you need a local to find the best places to eat. The Rheinhalle bierhalle for giant Cordon Bleu and the Mövenpick RailCity for Sunday brunch...

...primitive trance music on the streets of the metropole...

Luxemburgerli from Sprüngli for bearpdx. Little waffle hamburger buns with sweet cream in them...the hazelnuts were my faves, but the strawberry were good too.
