The conference center that i am at this week began life as a large golf course on the banks of the Fox River. The old Clubhouse, a few sand traps and the 18th hole are all that remain. The countryside is beautiful and the leaves are starting to change. A girl's school was built on the site and it was later closed then repurposed as a corporate retreat. The BACC (Big Ass Consulting Company) doesn't own the place, but it is our spiritual home. It's not part of our business, so the operation of the center is outsourced. The center also hosts other corporate meetings and conferences, but i think we're the biggest occupant. The rooms are small and sparse, but very cocoon-like. Plus, i have a view overlooking the pond, fountain and clubhouse. On the downside, it has no fridge and just a twin bed. i can adapt.
