When i got home from work last night, Matt was in a...well, i wouldn't call it foul, but resigned mood over his aching tooth. He had cancelled the weekly get-together with his buddies, though our buddy, Lance, had come by to give him a demonstration of Halo3 that he had just picked up the night before and that was keeping him entertained.
i fixed the dinner that he had already gotten started and afterwards we bemoaned the fact that we (read: i) had eaten all the ice cream. i offered to go down to QuikTrip to get some, but that was soon rejected when we decided to take one last end-of-the-season Jeep ride to Ted Drewes. When we got to the corner, i started to turn south towards Teds #1 on Chippewa, but they said to go to Teds #2 on South Grand. But when we got there, the parking lot was empty and the store was closed. i zipped around a corner and headed south down some residential side streets. i was singing along with Shirley Bassey in a matter that would do the most over-blown drag queen proud and even got a few comments from people sitting on their stoops when i hit the big notes. i love driving at sundown on a late summer evening and this looked to be the last of it. You could see the clouds moving in that the weatherman promised would bring rain and more fall-like temperatures to our area. The trick would be to get down there and home before that weather caught up with us. Not to worry, we made it just fine. They make special "dog bowls" of unsweetened custard since you KNOW your dog will want one, just like Coco. We all had "Flying Dutchmen" concretes with apples and nuts. We got home and covered the Jeep.
It rained a bit last night and it was, indeed, a bit chilly on the ride in to work this morning. Fall has fell.
