Wednesday - So... I headed home from work, with the expectation that
darkphox would be arriving at my place about the same time I would. Until I got the text a few blocks from home saying he hadn't left yet. Got home and messaged him online... Turned out he decided against walking the 2.5 miles to the train station and was waiting for
fredryk's roomate to get home to give him a ride.
evil_spork showed up, followed shortly by
bauske and we hung out, drank, cooked dinner and occasionally checked in to see if Pete was en route yet... Eventually settled down to watch a few episodes of
Louie, which was surprisingly good! Very much so all about humor that's funny, 'cause it's true... And our white guilt compels us to laugh. Eventually though, Pete found his way to the train station... And promptly missed the train. SO, more TV until the caught the LAST train of the evening... We all drove down to snag him from the station then stayed awake to catch up a bit before passing out.
Thursday - Woke up at a reasonable time, showered, headed to work... Found out that my greatly anticipated new phone started arriving at local stores, so I ran to the closest one and... No luck. Tomorrow's the official release, so I don't know why I'm being so anxious. I think it's partially because I've not actually been EXCITED about a phone in forever and... Well, this is going to be a very difficult transition. I'm thinking of drawing out a chart for the sales rep:
The HTC Desire was originally advertised as being eligible for a Buy-One, Get-One Free offer. Only mailed to select people, I didn't get one. I've called the store, they don't know if they can honor it. I've called the in-house sales and they're happy to, but it'll take a few more days to get as they'll have to ship to to me.
Assuming we get past that hurdle... My family plan is mid-contract due to my changing the plan and renewing the contract. However, I am currently eligible for an equipment upgrade, which means I can get a new phone through U.S. Cellular, as long as I stay with U.S. Cellular, and I can take advantage of any $200 for signing a contract deals, as I've already signed a contract, or can just sign a new one. So that, shouldn't be a problem... Except:
Fen moved to Denver, as we all know... He's ready to get his own phone and his own contract and all that, since U.S. Cellular is not local out there. However, due to the above contract, he can't leave... UNLESS, as customer service suggested, I find someone to "take-over" his portion of my contract. They can have their own number, no problem. Which works out, because Ryan is looking to get a new phone and contract and is happy to do so under my plan... However, his phone is currently under his mother's name:
So... I have two contracts tied together... I want to keep my number and get a new phone. I want the Fen's contract to be transferred to Ryan, whose contract is currently held by his mother. They need to get her permission to release it over to my account in order to save Ryan's phone number. Fen then, with a newly release contract, needs to NOT loose his phone number, or his service, for at least as long as it takes for him to transfer over to a new provider... It all works out in my head, but I fear that the juggling of contracts and ownership and porting of numbers all over the place, may be just too much for a typical store sales associate to handle. But... I guess we'll see tomorrow?
