Spreading a little love...

Last Friday...  I was having a good day.  It was a decent day at work, the weather was perfect...  And I was on my way to the shop and craving ice cream...  (Shocking, I know.)  SO, I stopped at Scooter's on the way home...  I was just running in for a minute, and I saw the meter was expired but had no quarters (when the car was broken into, they stole all of my change)...  And earlier in the week I had stopped at Jamba Juice, but had no quarters , so I decided to not go in and drove off empty-pawed and without breakfast...  I figured I'd be fine and went inside...

Of course, you can guess where this story is going, right?

I came out to a meter maid typing in my license plate...  And the warm sun on my face...  And an AMAZING Grasshopper Pie concrete (Vanilla Custard, Irish Mint, Graham Cracker Pie Crust, Chocolate Chips and whipped cream)...  And so I walked across the street, asked if I'd missed the meter and she glared at me and told me it was too late, she'd already started writing it up and there was NOTHING she could do.

So I smiled and told her it was alright, I understood and I'd just wait for it...  As I enjoyed what I could easily accept was now the most expensive frozen custard treat I would ever stop for.  She continued clicking away and looked up at me twice, goofy grin on my face, frozen custard in paw...  And then she stopped and smiled too and said, "Ya know what honey?  It's a'ight...  Don't you worry about it!  I got no need to go and ruin someone's weekend..."

Somewhat surprised, I thanked her profusely and wished her well as I headed off, in the hopes that perhaps, for a little bit, she wouldn't feel so bad about just doing her job.

(And on a side-note, the car is now fully-stocked with quarters...  And I'm carrying some extras around with me to feed any other meters I see that run out.
