So things have been pretty good these past couple of days in Bangkok. I bought a guide book to get around but then there's my aunt, who's been here 8 years and knows the ins and outs of the city and is taking me everywhere, so I can't say no either. I'll definitely get around to doing more of the tourist-y things in the next couple of days, but for now, it's lots of malls and groceries and expressways to my cousin's school and Hallmark channel movies in the wee hours of the morning.
On the job front, I'm still sending out resumes all the way from Bangkok and hope some thing sticks. I have a couple interviews lined up for when I return to Singapore (so let's all cross our fingers I have a smooth time at immigrations) and I'm just trying to keep positive that it'll all turn out okay. There was a brief moment of panic during my last days in Singapore but now, I'm just okay again.
And yes, everything is Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Hallmark channel. Who knew I could sit through two TV movies back to back at like 3-4 in the morning? Yes, I can. It's a talent, I tell you.
Loving: being chauffeured around. My aunt and uncle have a chauffeur in Bangkok and though the public transport seems pretty efficient, I do not mind riding around in a car and being sheltered from the heat and the traffic of Bangkok. I do not mind living this faux-exaptriate lifestyle.
Crushing On: Skye/Ward and Chloe Bennet and Brett Dalton and everyone on AoS. Really. Skye and Ward separately are amazing and Chloe in real life and Brett in real life (when I say real life, I mean Twitter and Instagram) are just the most adorable creatures. And I'm just constantly hoping they'll tweet something awesome (they did) or do something cute (they always do) so I can squee with
catteo. Calling
redbrunja, I need your IM details.
Reading: I've been reading a lot, obviously, and I just finished Everything I Never Told You and I realise, I've been reading a lot of depressing books but it was beautiful and such an easy read. I also really liked The Girl On The Train which I read had some Gone Girl-esque elements and though they were right, it's got it's own story. I really enjoyed it.
Watching: Other than Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I can't think of anything of note other than The Musketeers which I've been enjoying thoroughly and Jane the Virign and The Mindy Project which have been really consistent. I'm actually really worried that I've just lost interest in anything that isn't MCU but I know once AoS is back, I can finally move on and know that there is life outside MCU.
But then again, Broadchurch is pretty amazing and still manages to hold my interest and I have to say James D'Arcy is the most versatile actor ever -- being all mysterious and menacing on Broadchurch and all adorable and quirky on Agent Carter. I'm a little obsessed with him.
Also, I caught Fifty Shades of Grey with my aunt and her group of friends so that wasn't weird at all and I had read reviews prior saying it wasn't as bad as expected and I suppose given the source material, Sam Taylor-Johnson and the two leads did the best they could, but Christian Grey is still a creeper. Still, not bad. (Unpopular opinion, I know).
Listening to: Shoot me now, but I really like the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack and it's been on repeat for a while, alternating with The Last Five Years soundtrack. I really want to see this movie already. Also, Jose Gonzalez's new album is very chill and I just want to zone out to it while Imagine Dragons has yet to grow on me but is very much something I should probably run to. More on that later.
Planning: Getting back into some sort of routine for exercise. With all the distraction and SO MUCH FOOD at my fingertips in Bangkok, it's difficult to be disciplined about what I eat and I'll feel terrible if all the 'work' I put in in Singapore goes to waste, so I'm going to try to get back into something daily. Between the gym in the condominium and the park 1.5KM away, I really don't have an excuse other than time.
Working on: I'm actually proofreading another book and have two articles I need to submit so I'm excited to do that. The book I'm proofing now wasn't as challenging as the first one I did so I'm glad but it's a little longer and it's difficult to squeeze in proof-reading time between the malling all day touristing and the Hallmark channel but it works somehow.
Anticipating: The Oscars! I'm still trying to get through all the movies but those that I wanted to see, I will see. So I'm really crossing my fingers NPH does well and the show goes without a hitch. Plus all the wonderful dresses! I am excited. Also, the Chinese New Year! Technically it isn't a holiday in Bangkok, but I feel like something will be happening in Chinatown and that should be fun to attend.
Wishing: My next week in Bangkok is enjoyable and that I have zero stress or problems getting back into Singapore. If only my passport were something other than my existing one, things would be better. But I know that things will be okay. They have to be.
