On Repeat: Not Safe Nor Sound at all

Hey Taylor[Amazon]It's finally here. The month we've all been counting down to since we found out the movie was pushing through. And now, we're mere days away from seeing the movie and getting really pumped up about everything -- including the soundtrack. And though the track list sounds promising, I'm still a little wary about it all. Here's to hoping they don't mess up promoting this movie. It's a fine line they could cross.

Here's to our expectations being met with this long-coveted album that's been released in bits and pieces (so very reminiscent of that other teen franchise). I really hope the rest of it lives up to expectations.

Taylor Swift feat. The Civil Wars - Safe & Sound

So I'm sure this isn't the bestest thing off the entire soundtrack but they did release it first so it must be worth something. Plus, we actually get to hear music from this movie. I'm pretty psyched for the premiere in a few weeks and really should get around to doing that re-read.

I can't wait to hear the rest of the soundtrack with the likes of The Decemberists doing a song, One Engine and Arcade Fire doing Abraham's Daughters. I need the rest of the album to come out already. March 25 where are you already?! It's way too long a wait.

Mat Kearney - Closer to Love
Two things. I was looking at Patty Laurel's blog and admiring her pre-nup photos when I stumbled upon this song. It just so happened that I was also re-watching/re-listening to the first season of The Vampire Diaries and they played it during the first few episodes. And really, many re-listens and no matter how 'old' this song is, I'm still not over it. It's beautiful.

Then of course, just because she covers everything, Taylor did a version on her tour and it's not bad either. I like heart Mat Kearney go all acoustic though. Basically, it's an oldie but a goodie, really. I miss season 1 of TVD already.

Foster the People - Pumped Up Kicks

I'll admit, I didn't know who the hell this band was but I did know their song. The brief times I caught myself listening to the radio, I'd keep hearing this song and never figured out who sang it or what the hell this entire band was about. And even seeing them at the Grammy's didn't prompt me to put two and two together.

But then the Zefron decides to do a messed up version of it with co-star Taylor on Ellen. And I swear, somehow I forgot that Zac sings. He's been gone from the HSM franchise too long, it took a while for me to get used to him singing and not because we has bad but because was actually pretty good, I didn't want him to stop. DO MORE SONGS, Zefron. We love it when you sing.

Rae Morris - Wait a While

I haven't listened to any of the Burberry Acoustic sessions lately but I do miss it. I wish I could pull something of this magnitude locally just because it's a great combination of style and music. I always wonder, is everyone in the videos supposed to be wearing Burberry to? Just wondering.

And in an unlikely R&B cover, we get Sleigh Bells doing Irreplaceable on the BBC Live Lounge and though I wasn't the biggest fan of the original song, this cover is pretty damn awesome. I like it when Sleigh Bells isn't going too crazy. I'm getting old, I know.

Usher - Climax

So it's not the usual Usher we're used to and I'll admit it'll take some time for this song to actually grow on me but I can't help it, it's Usher! I still get shivers listening to some of his oldies and hopefully this will join their ranks in the heart-tugging arena.

I'm not so into the new Monica & Brandy song either but it wasn't such a bad thing in general. It's just that The Boy Is Mine was so quintessentially awesome that this one sort of pales as a 'follow up' ten thousand years later. But that's just me, of course.

John Mayer - Shadow Days

Finally, we we end with Mayer's first sneak peek off his new album. I have to say, Battle Studies was pretty awesome so how he'll top that, I don't know but I'm sure he's trying his best. I'm scared for his throat problem coming back. I hope it's nothing serious.

I really hope the rest of the album is good and ready to record. What's on your repeat this month? I need a summer song already and I know you do too. Any suggestions?
