Questions from the awesome
zsof:
1. If you were guaranteed a spot on American Idol, would you do it?
My first thought was oh heck no. The angst of trying to craft a televisable persona that would appeal to the masses? The pressure cooker of being sleep-deprived yet constantly in front of the cameras? The soul-sapping fatigue that comes with being *on* 24-7? Shudder-inducing, all... and no amount of fun styling or swag or getting to hang out with Michael the awesome keyboard player would really be worth all that and the complete loss of privacy, I think.
On second thought, considering the amazing things that came out of my friends' experiences on reality shows... hmmm. Would it be worth a few months of agony to be able to say for the rest of my life that I'd *done* it, to have that baseline level of notoriety where people know they've seen you somewhere before, and to have the occasional random "Hey, come to Dubai for this reality-show star party"? Maybe. Maybe.
Now, would I attend every Hollywood taping if I could? That's a gimme. :) Also, if the question is "If you could acquire a fantastic singing voice by competing on American Idol, would you do it?" then the answer is YES IN A HEARTBEAT. ... oh, and I just realized that
klynn330 would most likely strangle me if I had an opportunity to participate in the summer tour and didn't take it, so maybe the answer *is* yes, I'd take a spot on the show out of fear for my life. :)
2. What is the one talent or ability that you don't have yet wish you did?
Singing voice (see above). I mean, I know I *can* produce vocal noises and people don't run screaming, but let's face it: what I got, it ain't pro-level. I would like a voice that made people want to stop what they're doing and come listen, even if I were singing in langue d'oïl.
3. Would you rather live in Narnia or the Harry Potter universe?
Tough one! HP would be fun if I'm not a muggle, but I'd probably choose Narnia (presuming Aslan is cool with me not being Christian!). I think the Narnia universe offers a particular type of beauty and wonder that would be deeply gratifying. The Dickensian aspects of HP are fun to read about, possibly less fun to be immersed in -- from my perspective, anyway.
4. Does death frighten you?
The concept itself doesn't scare me necessarily; I'm comfortable believing that whatever is important or significant about my energy will rejoin whatever part of the universe generated it in the first place. Leaving people who still need me frightens me.
5. Have you ever seen or heard a ghost?
Never directly. I've encountered some ghostly effects -- there really seemed to be some sort of presence lingering in my last house when I first moved in. The thermostat got turned down to sub-freezing, the kettle of water exploded right after being put on the stove, the built-in cabinet that had been painted shut that I couldn't shift for love or money mysteriously opened itself one night... it got a little weird. The house and I had a talk, and all that stuff went away.
I definitely feel like there was some residual energy in our current house when we moved in, but only in a positive way. The house *felt* like it was happy we were there, for lack of a better/less hippie-dippie way of putting it...
