We had a marvelous, marvelous weekend playing the Wrightstown Village Renaissance Faire. It's a surprisingly great little festival -- full of performers, merchants, games, etc. (including jousting) -- for such a small local deal, not to mention a ticket price approximately one-fifth of PARF's! And the proceeds go to support the town's public library, which is always a Good Thing.
Most of the sets went well (at least I thought so). M wasn't feeling well and didn't join us Sunday morning, but we shifted "Palestinalied" to skip the recorder duo and everything else went more or less fine. The PA system fought us a little, and the times they booked us out on the main dance stage in the blazing sun were a bit less energetic than our sets in the shaded pavilion, but overall we didn't have any major issues. I'm sure the scarlet Batgirl-esque "w"-shaped sunburn on my cleavage will fade eventually... *grin*
We got a lot of good feedback, and sold a handful of CDs, including one to someone we believe is a senior officer taking it back to Iraq with him. People took lots of pictures -- if you see any of them kicking around out there, please do tag them/pass them along!
And you know, I just really enjoyed those sets. It's taken me a long time to come to terms with the notion, because roughly the first third of my life I spent as a hardcore wallflower bookworm, but darn it -- I want a stage, and an audience, and pictures in the paper the next day. (You know the funny part about that? We got a writeup in the local paper's article about the faire, and the reporter managed to get all the details right about what we do and what we play... and didn't mention the band name or our names at all. Raaaar!)
Here's a brief clip of us in the middle of playing "Thrax" (a.k.a. the skudrinka sometimes known as "Doedet"), sans Melissa:

Advance warning: Our next gig is Oct. 24 at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. After that, we're not booking any public performances for a few months while we work on some new pieces and some more recording -- so come on out in October or you'll likely have to wait until the spring for your next chance to hear us live! :)
