So, as many have already said, the PEERS Steampunk ball was awesome! My friend
ladydem went with me, as well as a son of one of our co-workers. I don't think he did any dancing, but he mainly wanted to go to see the costumes, etc. I can lead waltzes well enough now that I got
ladydem to waltz with me a couple of times, as well as doing some of the set dances. We had a wonderful time, and she wants to do more dancing! Yay! I might even get her to come to Ceilidh some night! By the way, she put up a few pictures on her lj.
I didn't get my outfit totally done, but I did finish the skirt and hat, which was good enough for the time being. I'm planning to make a fitted jacket to match the skirt and a cotton shirt. So it will be a kind of lady's suit. I think I might even make two jackets. One in the same fabric as the skirt, and one in a solid twill. The shirt I wore, was one I found at a thrift store, and since it is a bad thrift store shirt, it is, of course, 100% polyester. Fun. But it works well with the outfit, and doesn't look too bad, however, not the best for dancing. I found out I need to take my corset in again too, since I put it on and thought " hey, this is way too loose, but i think it will still hold me for the night." Yay for losing weight, but grr for more adjustments. I also want to add a lot of stuff/accessories to my outfit. Chains, watch, pouch, brooch, etc. And, of course the pair of googles I really want from the army surplus store in Berkeley. I really need to get back down there.
So yes. Much fun was had, and I'm still exhausted, but it was worth it a million times over. Yay for dressing up, dancing and seeing friends!
Edit: I posted the pictures
The two of us near the beginning of the night, and then one with our co-worker's son.
