I'm in the flat in Reykjvík!
Mum needs help putting shit in boxes and I was needing a bit of slowness. funniest thing..my hands look like cooked chicken..something called a sun allergy HAHAH only I could have something stupid like that.

SO
here's a "brief" update
I went to the vegan cafe in Reykjavik,...knew nobody, smiled at some guy, who asked if I wanted a ride to the conference. I nodded. got in some car. got to the conference, stood infront of a tent...smiled at two guys, they asked if i needed a place to sleep. nodded.
at first I was really uncomfortable because I didn't know anyone and EVERYONE knew each other. but got to know people quite soonish.

Conference from 6th to the 8th went really well. We had people from Tobago, south africa, india, brasil... talking about aluminium smelters. Nearly every speach made me want to cry, especially when we saw photos of the places being destroyed.
Took lots of notes. got very confused by science talk.
At the end of one meeting I turned around to see a very intent, dreadlocked Oliver. It was really nice to see a familiar face, even though I don't know him very well.
I sort of latched myself onto the poor guy, haha. We got interviewed by a japanese telivision channel.

Got drunk and stoned with a few people in a tent they kept calling the "piss tent"..I don't want to know.
naked kitchen crew, dutch tobacco named "shag", disgusting danish liquor, dirty socks, sleeping next to funny boys, coffee, vegan food.

PROTEST CAMP.
So we finally got to the campsite which is absolutely beautiful! and is about 30minutes outside reykjavik..so very easy to go and have a few actions.
first action was in Kringlan, the shopping centre. with reverend billy from the church of stop shopping. We even had "Snorri" to do another reverend billy type act..in icelandic. basically we created chaos. security got very annoying. I personally think they were having the time of their lives, first time anything ever happens to them.
we were trying to link over consumption...excessive shopping... to aluminium smeltering, saying that if there wasn't demand, there wouldn't be supply..etc.

we marched down the main street...Laugarvegur . it was good. had a few speeches..and a street theatre which was really good. we were selling"upure" icelandic water. and had a fake dam. I got quite a bit of "fucking hippies" "get a job". ONE was HILARIOUS. these guys said I looked like an idiot, they eyed me up and down..(i know this isn't a very nice thing to say but they looked stupid and not very sexy to say the least) and said "you really look like a complete idiot". and then they drove circles shouting "go alcoa!" HAHHAHAHAHAHA.

the media made us sound stupid. we were accused of being "bored teenagers".haha

laughing. dancing. "the whole world is watching", accusing. smiling. barefoot. sunburnt. vegan chocolate cake. unkempt. sexual tension. singing in hippie vans. reading from the anarchist library. mouthing "cunt" over and over again whilst absorbed in feminist literature. skipped bread. liberated chocolate.

- Danish Anarchists-
by far the coolest. they've been in squat fights. just very cool. spotted all of them, in all black, under a black flag, waving madly in mad icelandic wind. twas a great sight. they call me a hippie. I love them already.
they hate being called sweet, hate kumbaya..hate me throwing myself on them and trying to add colour to their clothing. needless to say..it's all I do.

I realise this is the longest post in history.
sorry.

-crisis-
bit of a problem arose. individual having a breakdown. woke everyone up. scared the shit out of everyone. no one knew how to deal with it. we're not mental health experts. conspiracy theories. crying. cold.
ended up really worried, holding Till's head, stroking his head..trying to calm... myself, down really.

--- Friendships forming__
saw a pretty dark haired girl in a nice cardigan. Realised it was Sophie from edinburgh. was amazed at how fast she was friendly with everyone. she's a lovely person. A few people I have met are fantastic...actually no one isn't...just click with a few a bit more than with others. Have taken to caring a lot about a few individuals already.
the best feeling : having a laughing fit.. with your stomach full of yummy vegan food.. sitting outside in the most beautiful country.. with soaking wet socks.. no make up...smelling natural.. hair wet from skinny dipping in a waterfall..holding/being held ..physical contact...surrounded by people who are all fighting for the same thing, and who would never criticise..or not understand...because they're so similar.

had a few fantastic workshops
watched fourth world war. now know who oli and sam are talking about when they mention the sexy masked up girl. and i agree with them.
haha

clown army workshop. by far the best. was a chance to be me me me and have a really good excuse to be a kid and an idiot.

---STREET PARTY--
the 14th we agreed to having a street party.
it started off good. was a clown. wasn't too hard finding clown like clothes from my own closet..slightly worrying.
we stopped. stopped traffic.
to make a long story short.
police violence here is ridiculous. they're unpredictable. idiots. no sense of humour (they didn't like me clowning them). brutal.
they basically arrested at random. grabbed, shoved, pushed people to the ground, had people in headlocks.
arrested 4people.

stole a passport. broke glasses. left huge bruises and scars on the arrested..and small ones on mostly everyone.
Broke the car window...said that we had done it to THEIR vehicle.
we marched to the police station.
they're aweful. they're idiots. they have none of my respect. they're brutal and mindless.

had a noise party.

then i went home.
have been talking to people. a lot of people seriously have no clue as to whats going on and seem not to want to know. I'm sick of being called stupid, useless etc.

I'm happy to be going to the camp soon...but feel useless..because I should be helping my mum since she's going through a very hard time.

the smell of moss. cold coffee. pots being banged at 9am.socking.fishing.clown noses.smiles.laughter.debates.films.cookies.pancakes. blankets.falling asleep.being criticised.never losing hope.never giving up. always wishing for better.

--NEWS-
rio tinto has bought alcoa..THIS IS VERY VERY BAD NEWS
good news. minister of environment has declared that she will oppose to ALL FURTHER ALUMINIUM SMELTERS
fucking yaldie!!!!

"There's no power like the power of the people and the power of the people won't stop HEY!"

i love everyone. keep loving.

I was a bit frustrated but i spoke to one person for a few seconds. and she might not know but a few seconds of speaking to her always gives me hope. I haven't seen her in over a year. I love you Manue.
