Fic: Finding Fandom

Nov 15, 2010 22:57

It was Mark who discovered it.

It had been an accident really; he’d simply been trawling around the net, looking on various fan-sites, social sites etc to see what people were saying about him. It was actually pretty funny, reading about how the fangirls ‘knew’ that he and Chord were ‘clearly dating’. Some people had already started to write their own little stories about them. God, some girls really ate this sort of thing up didn’t they?

Browsing through some of the stories he couldn’t help but laugh slightly to himself, if he and Chord weren’t actually together then some of these things would disturb him immensely. As it was they simply put him in good spirits. In fact he was still laughing quietly to himself as he read about how someone thought Chord was totally a screamer, mentally confirming that fact when he heard a knock at the door. He turned his head to see said blond poking his head around.

“You’re needed back on set soon,” he greeted. Mark nodded in response before he signaled for him to come in,

“Hey check out some of the things the fangirls are saying about us. It’s funny as hell how perceptive they are,” the mohawked actor said. A grin quirked on the blonde’s lips as he entered the trailer, shutting the door behind him he strolled over to where Mark was sat and leaned over to read what was on the phone screen.  His eyes scanned the text and he laughed,

“They seriously think we’re together? A few tweets and an interview or two and they seriously think we’re dating?” Chord asked, straightening up with an amused look on his face. He felt an arm slip around his waist and he grinned down as Mark pulled him close.

“Perceptive aren’t they?”

Chord rolled his eyes and nodded, faking a sigh,

“Looks like I won’t be getting a date with Dianna after all then,” he commented almost mournfully before his boyfriend pinched his ass.

“As if she’d have you,” he teased back.

The flirting over twitter, standing close in photos etc and even holding hands when they hadn’t realized they were being recorded by the paparazzi were common interactions between them. They were always messing around, flirting and teasing which was possibly part of the reason they’d gotten along so well in the first place. Even the ‘hazing’ that Mark had tried to initiate had been taken well by Chord. And now, well, they were dating even if they weren’t going to publically release this information. Fox was fine with people assuming they were dating but they wanted the cast to appear to be a family and nothing more. If the fans knew some of the things that had gone on they’d probably be shocked.

As Mark mused over this Chord had taken the phone again and was looking through the site grinning but eventually he read something that made him stop and frown slightly. He blinked at it for a few seconds before he opened the page, reading through and eyebrows raising high as he simply scan read the text. The surprise was evident on his face but it soon relaxed into a giant grin as he handed the phone back to the darker haired man.

“Looks like we’re not the only ones the fans are writing as a couple. And that one’s pretty saucy,” he remarked as Mark skimmed through the text himself and laughed.

“I wonder what they’d think of this if they knew,” Mark said as he shook his head and favorite the page for the sake of teasing their co-stars later when they could. They both knew that Chris wouldn’t want to know, he would probably get all shy about it and Cory would be embarrassed but he’d try and laugh the comments off.

Oh, this could be fun.

The first chance they had to tease the pair was only a couple of days later when they were taking a break from filming. Chord had just gone off to get a protein shake and the only other people around were Cory and Chris. The two guys were sitting in their chairs, leaning in close as they looked at something on Cory’s phone. It brought back the memory of what Chord had shown him on that site and he sniggered quietly.

“Looking at anything interesting dudes?” he asked, walking over to them, leaning over to glimpse at what they were looking at. Just some of the tweets people had mentioned Cory in. They appeared to be having a bit of a giggle,

“Yeah, some of the things the fans say are really quite strange. I mean, not as strange as that guy who sent me a video of himself naked but still pretty strange,” Chris replied, cheeks flushing slightly in embarrassment as he remembered the video one creep had sent him. Mark could have sworn he saw Cory’s grip on his phone tighten for a moment but it was soon lost to a sympathetic smile as he patted their younger co-star on the shoulder.

“Well you have to expect some creeps when you have such an influence on the public eye Chris.”

The words caused the smaller male to laugh quietly as he shrugged,

“It’s still strange though. It’s hard to believe I’m so popular though,” he replied.

They both dropped the topic after that returning to looking at the tweets as Mark spied over their shoulder. He really wasn’t surprised that some girls thought they were together now he thought about it; they were always acting like that and complimenting each other. It was kind of sickening really.

As he looked there was one particular tweet that caught the mohawked male’s eye and he raised an eyebrow. Someone called…Yaoi_Hime - what did that even mean? - had asked Cory if he knew what Monfer was and what did he think of it. Wasn’t that one of the terms the fangirls had been using for Cory and Chris…that and C2?  A small smirk tugged at his lips, now the fangirls were sneakily trying to ask them if they were dating. He thought the Sallingstreet lovers were bad.

“What’s with someone asking you about Monfer? That’s kind of weird,” he asked, keeping the smug look on his face as the two brunets looked up at him. The youngest actor had furrowed his brow slightly,

“Thinking about it, someone asked me about it as well. I didn’t answer as I had no clue as to what they meant,” he said. He looked up at Mark slightly confused, “it sounds like you know what it means though.”

Mark shrugged, feigning innocence as he looked at them both, acting as if it was something that didn’t matter.

“Not really, I’ve just seen it mentioned before. Maybe the pair of you should try looking it up sometime.”

They really made it too easy to tease them.

A few of them had gone out to grab something to ear after filming a few days later. It had been a long day and they all just wanted to eat and relax.

Unfortunately they were waylaid by an eager fan who wanted a picture on their way into the sushi restaurant. They agreed though, not wanting their fans to think they were rude or anything. Cory, Chris, Mark, Chord, Dianna and Lea all crowded together to fit in the small screen of the camera phone. The girls stood between Mark and Chord, not trusting them to pose somewhat peversely as a joke. They all had to cuddle close so it would have been so easy.

Perhaps one of the girls should have stood between Chris and Cory as well but they didn't think anything of it when Cory slung his arm loosely around Chris's waist, hand resting just slightly above his backside but still out of sight of the camera.

Anyone who knew Cory knew that he could be a very touchy-feely person, that he was just very affectionate. After all, his other arm was wrapped around Lea's shoulders but it was only Chris that was pressed into his side. It made for a rather intimate looking pose.

Well, the teenage girl taking the photo seemed to think so at least.

She was pretty, tall with long blonde hair and a short denim mini on with black leggings on underneath. She looked like the sort of girl who always managed to match-make her many friends successfully and straight away she zoned in on the two male's body language. She giggled slightly, looking at them with wide, dark eyes as if she didn't know quite how to take it. Instead of asking them anything though she simply stated,

"Well it looks like the rumors are true! Guess Bree was right."

The statement seemed to go right over the heads of the two she was talking about as Mark and Chord looked at each other with grins, Lea and Dianna rolling their eyes as they looked at each other around Chord.

The girl quickly snapped the photo after that, politely thanking them when a woman stuck her head out from a restaurant across the street to call the blonde in. She waved, smiling brightly before she ran off to go join the woman the cast assumed was her mother.

It really said something if a random girl on the street thought they were together from one photo and yet they didn't even realize it.

"Anyone have any clue what rumors she was talking about?" Cory asked, amusement obvious in his tone as it always was when it came to talking about media gossip involving them. Lea just looked at him pityingly and patted the taller male on the shoulder,

"One day you'll get it," she reassured.

Mark and Chord weren’t the only ones who were aware of the fans response to Cory and Chris that much was obvious. The only difference was that they didn’t want to tease them, no; they were actually kind of sick of the obvious sexual tension between them. Especially as the tension was most palpable whenever they acted out an especially emotional scene together and they had plenty of emotional scenes together. Or whenever they just had to look deeply at each other, or dance together and…oh, you get the picture.

The tension was always there and it could get a little distracting.

Eventually Dianna, Dianna who had been described in Rolling Stone as an ‘A-Plus Prissy Pie’, exclaimed to her best friend that she couldn’t put up with it for much longer. If Cory and Chris didn’t get over themselves and start fucking soon she would have to kill them both herself. To say the exclamation had came as a surprise would be a lie and Lea had to agree, even if she did usually prefer to keep private lives private.

So one afternoon, when Cory, Mark, Kevin, Harry and Chord were off filming some football scene with Dot, they decided to have Chris over to their trailer to hang out for a bit. The girls lounged around, reading magazines as Chris read the comic he’d brought the night before. The chat was relaxed until Lea found a quiz she seemed pretty interested about giggling over.

Rather than asking prim little Dianna though, she turned to innocent little Chris and promptly read off a list and asked him which of the mental images sounded more of a turn on for a sexy evening in. He’d flushed red, asking her why the hell she was even asking him before he sighed and answered,

“I don’t know…a football match or flower petals I guess.”

The next four questions were more normal and it turned out he’d rather eat somewhere where the food was good, he’d want to try something new with his friends on a day out, on the beach he would be lost in a book and his living room was slightly cluttered with things he’d collected.

Lea tallied up the score before she looked up with a grin,

“Reads like you’re a natural born sex god Chris, very sensual and tuned in on all your senses in the bedroom. It suggests you try blind folds or something,” she read out with a quiet laugh as Chris just grew slowly redder, eventually stumbling to his feet.

“What’s this even about Lea? You know I have no one to try things like that out with,” he groaned, crossing his arms over his chest as he looked at his friends. The two women looked at each other for a moment before they looked at Chris again with a sigh.

“You and Cory hon, even the fangirls see it and write about it. Just do yourself a favor and ask him out already,” Dianna said with an apologetic smile.

They didn’t get the chance to say anything else though as one of the staff stuck their head in to tell them that Lea and Dianna were needed on set.

Cory on the other hand was still being badgered by Mark and Chord and they had decided to take a less subtle route to the subject.

“Y’know, the fans think you and Chris are dating.”

The Canadian nearly smashed his head against the wall as he looked up in shock, staring wide-eyed at the blond standing in front of him.

“How did you know about that?” he asked.

So maybe Cory had known a little about it, maybe he had googled Chris and himself before, curious to see what people had thought. Maybe he had read a couple of the stories and had jerked off to them but it wasn’t exactly anything he had told anyone else about.

Chord raised an eyebrow, turning toward Mark who had joined them, grinning down at their cast mate as he shook his head.

“What I wanna know is how you know about it considering you never said anything but I tell you what, I’ll forgive you if you give the fan girls something to really scream about…”

Cory didn’t know if he wanted to ask….

“I know a great restaurant you could take Chris too. Really romantic…just don’t tell anyone I told you” Mark finished with a grin.

Okay…maybe Cory could do that.

So it turned out the cast mates discovering the RPS fandom had positive consequences as Cory and Chris finally got together.

The only problem was that they insisted on keeping it a secret for now, god knows how long that would last though. They weren’t exactly subtle.
