Irony was a word that Link knew of but never took the time to contemplate over. Why would he? He lost seven years frozen in time. He woke up a full-grown man and found himself thrown into with one quest after another. Time was spent finding the five sages and helping all those that needed the Hero of Time. It was not to be wasted on words.

But now, staring at the ocarina in his hands, all he could think, feel, and breathe was irony. The definition and examples of it threatened to consume him whole if he wasn't careful. This very ocarina that help him find the one person that he went through lakes, volcanoes, and deserts to find would now cause him to be taken away from her. Right after he found her. If that wasn't irony, he did not know what was.

Link handed her the instrument, her long pale fingers brushing his as she curled them around it. She brought the Ocarina of Time to her lips, lips that he never had the chance to kiss. As the haunting tune reached his ears, Link knew he would never hate an object and a word more than he did at this moment.
