There are times when I watch Grey's and I think..."Oh, it's not as good as it used to be." And then there are times when I watch Grey's, and its just so amazing it floors me. This episode was one of those times. Absolutley perfect, from start to finish. The speech by Jackson was exactly what I wanted to happen, and it was perfect. I cried a lot, I need to write it down, plus the "If you love someone shout it out." speech...it would very fitting for a *certain other fandom*
Shane's surgery, and his breakdown at the end was incredibly powerful. Though he's been grapplying with his guilt all series, this was where it all reached breaking point. His confusion, and sheer frantic drive during his surgery was fantastic. Richards quiet take over was brilliant because it was a quiet take over. No shouting, just calmness from Richard, trying not to push Shane completly over the edge.
The Cristina/Meredith interaction was great as well. I loved the whole "You are the person that we used to make fun of" and that Cristina feels that Meredith doesn't understand her properly because she doesn't want a child. Meredith's quiet realisation that Cristina has surpassed her in everyway in the medical field was wonderful. Cristina was always going to want the best, and be the best.
Now she is the best. As Meredith said "You've become what you've always idolised." She has.....she is Burke....We can argue, of course that she slept with these people simply because she wanted to get ahead.....and never really loved Burke as a person...but there was none of that with Owen, as she was already established, and their marriage didn't work out. Cristina strikes me as a character who now needs someone like Burke back in her life. Now they are equals.
I enjoyed the Alex parts, I always forget with Alex that underneath his arsey exterior is a little boy who just wants to feel accepted, and loved.
In conclusion....ten out of ten from me! Cannot wait now to see what happens next!
