I've also been impressed by the Political Studies Association's "The Alternative Vote: A Briefing Paper". It manages to be genuinely neutral and set out the consequences of AV without loading judgement on them. It's good for dispelling the myths from both sides, and certainly leaves me feeling like AV would be a step forward.
I'm increasingly getting a feeling of repeating myself on this subject, but I don't find that cartoon useful, because it's fantastical to imagine that any group of people would decide where to go to drink on the basis of a vote, yet alone a vote expressing multiple preferences. But if for some reason you did decide to put it to a vote, well, coffee-shop has won.
I think it's a fairly plausible scenario, but YMMV.
"coffee shop has won" - so you're happy with the group going to the coffee shop against 70% of their wishes? Or do you think they deserve it because they chose where to drink based on a vote?
If you've had this debate multiple times already and don't want to repeat yourself, could you point me to where?
