what TV should I be watching??

I need advice from you all! I'm looking for a good TV series or two that I can watch on DVD-- preferably one with multiple seasons I can get from the public library or rent. I don't have cable, so I know I've entirely missed a lot of high-quality shows

This is going to sound like an oddball suggestion, but I highly recommend Babylon 5. I usually detest space/sci-fi type shows, but this one has really strong characters and a great story arc that doesn't really have that much to do with 'space dilemmas' (my blanket term for Star Trek, etc.). There are five seasons of it out there (it's long since finished its TV run), but it's only the first four that are worth watching - they initially said they were cancelling it after season 4, so the writers wrapped everything up really nicely, and then the powers that be decided there should be a fifth season after all... and there wasn't much left to tell.

Yay for Dom-connections! I noticed her name right away when I looked up the show in the library catalog, and it made me press the 'request' button that much faster. :D

Her character on Babylon 5 is amazing, particularly in seasons 3 & 4. :)

I'm done with season 1, but I had to skip several episodes in the middle because they were getting increasingly dorky and space-dilemma-y. I am trusting that by the time I get to seasons 3 and 4 it will be worth all the ridicule from the spousal unit. LOL.
