Oh, I think they did hire Dom because he's such a good actor - the same reason they hired Yunjin Kim, for example, who is HUGE in Korea, according to my brother who lives there (think Tom Cruise, but more with the lovely and less with the crazy), and considered probably among the most talented actors from a foreign market. But I don't know that that means they intend to especially feature either of them due to that high level of talent. I hate to say it, but Evangeline Lily's pretty mediocre in terms of acting from what we've seen so far (quite possibly due to lack of experience, granted, but I'd say that by the same token Josh Holloway has taken to the gig far more easily and with just as little experience), and she still remains featured above many more experienced and worthy actors, so I guess that's probably not their primary consideration (quite unfortunately).
And I absolutely agree about the pacing suffering from the reruns. It really ought to be run like 24, but I don't think ABC are quite confident enough in its return-draw to have a seven-month gap between seasons (and as you point out, that's not really preferable from a fan's perspective, either). I think it might do better in that showing format, though, and maybe they'll switch it once they've got a couple seasons under their belt, and feel confident that the fanbase will come back after a long break.
