ok last one i promise. my god, you'd think i never have a day off from work (well actually now that you mention it, i never do) anyways i have read a couple really cool books in the last two months one of the is called 'fast food nation' by eric schlosser. it goes into the history of fast food as well as a very disturbing account on how beef is processed. it is really scary. i told a friend about it and he recommended a documentary called 'super size me' about a man who went on a mcdonalds only diet for 30 days. in just a months time he gained over thirty pounds and doubled his cholesteral rate it was so bad his dr told him if he stayed on it for another month he could pernamently jeopardize his health. in the dvd they had a supplemtal part where they put a mcdonalds burger and french fries in a jar and monitored each month to see if it would decay. after three month the burger had pretty much decayed but the french fries didnt have one scintilla of mold on them. beats formaldahyde all to shit. and from the ridiculous to the sublime i also read a book on buddihism. it talked about bodhisattvas, which are kind of like saints in the christion church they are those who have progressed to nirvana but forego entering to help those who are still struggling. one thing i thought was fascinating was as they became more enlighted they became more androgynous, adapting the qualities of both genders (male strength, female mercy) yin yang balance. ive been on a comparitive religion thing for a while and i really like learning why and how people believe the things they do. there was a quote i read that really says a lot about religion vs spirituality i have no idea who said it but its pretty sharp it goes 'religion is for people who are afraid of going to hell. spirituality is for people who have already been there.' yep that pretty much sums it up.
