Twisty, turny steeple thingy

Today skinnyhead and i went to Chesterfield to visit the church with the crooked spire. It's odd that both of us have passed it for years, but never before stopped to take photos. I'm glad we did though, it's an amazing place, and for £3.50 each we got a guided tour right up to the very top of the tower! Of course, i am now seriously in fucking agony broken after negotiating a very narrow spiral staircase (mostly climbing using my hands and feet), and decending a ladder on my bum with help from skinnyhead (much to the amusement of the verger). We also got deafened as the verger rang one of the bells whilst we were standing right next to it in the belfry! I never knew that the spire wasn't actually 'fixed' onto the tower.. apparently it was just 'plopped' on top and stays put due to it's weight. Earlier on in the day we'd seen a party of school children up on the tower, of course one of them was wearing the dreaded red coat that seems to turn up in alot of our photos... Luckily for me they only showed up in 1 shot :) Well worth the visit :)
