I wouldn't be nearly as upset if Sherlock had (supposedly) died fighting Moriarty and gone down as a hero, like he did in the actual story.

BUT HAVING HIM LIE TO JOHN AND THEN FAKE A SUICIDE

Oh god it hurts D: In my headcanon, John and Lestrade team up to figure out why he did it. And presumably Mycroft will assist, if he can take time away from his busy 'drinking tea and crying alone' schedule.

And they enlist Molly's help and she's all guilty because she's the only one who knows he's still alive

And meanwhile of course Sherlock is an ~INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY~ and jetting around the globe dismantling Moriarty's organization so that he can clear his name and make sure his friends are safe

And maybe Irene will have to save his ass at some point to make up for the fact that Moffat ended their story on a ridiculous note

And then Sherlock will go home all nonchalantly and John will lovingly punch him in the face

NONE OF THIS WILL HAPPEN but I can dream

especially the part with Irene and the loving punches in the face

All I know is, I really want John to have some part in uncovering all this.

If series 3 opens with John having completely moved on I will be sad. I just don't see him letting it go with so many unanswered questions. I would very much like for John Watson to SAVE THE DAY if only a little.

Yeah, IA, it would be great for John to be able to say SEE I CAN DETECTIVE TOO SO THERE.

(Also I think it would be awesome to find out that Sherlock assumes this will happen and takes it into account when making his own plans.)
