Chest compression only CPR is as effective as chest compressions and assisted breathing
Now to be fair, both studies involved rescuers who were completely untrained in CPR, not trained first responders, but it is nice to know. So, even if you don't know CPR, pounding on a dead person's chest can help. If you are ever in that situation, please do it.
